Etude House's Give Me Chocolate Collection is a limited edition, Valentine's Day-themed collection. The collection consists of a few nail polish colours, and also three eyeshadow duos, which are packaged to look like little chocolate bars! I guess Valentine's Day and chocolates are a no-brainer of a combination!

Etude House Give Me Chocolate Eyeshadow Duos: Limited edition for V-Day

Initially, I actually thought these were some combination of bronzer/blush or highlighter/bronzer (perhaps I was influenced by other brands like Bourjois, who had also packaged bronzers in chocolate-looking packaging). It only dawned on me that these were eyeshadows when I saw them being used in a demo. So, let's move on to the swatches and my quick thoughts on them!

There are three shades, #1 Cherry Truffle, #2 Salted Caramel, and #3 Cacao Fudge. They come in little flip-up plastic pans, and have an imprint on them that makes them look like chocolate. At the event I was at, everyone was oohing and aahing over how cute these were. They are indeed quite cute. Even the boxes look like chocolate boxes.

Pardon the bad lighting, this was all in indoor light! I tried to adjust the lighting, but well, this is the best we have.

#1 Cherry Truffle is a combination of a matte light pink and a deep shimmery brown that has a hint of pink. I'd call this the "pink" palette

#2 Salted Caramel is a shimmery peach with a hint of pink and lots of gold glitter (think NARS Orgasm blush, but in eyeshadow form, and more glittery), paired with a medium shimmery warm bronze. This is definitely a duo of warm-toned shades, and would probably look best on warmer-toned girls.

#3 Cacao Fudge has a sheer glittery yellow, and a deep cool-toned brown.

Generally, the lighter shades in all the palettes, except #1 Cherry Truffle, have fairly obvious discrete glitter bits to give that sparkle, and are pretty sheer, in particular the glittery yellow shade from #3 Cacao, which, after 4-5 swatches with my finger, only just managed to show up. The accompanying browns, however, had excellent pigmentation.

I was also asked on Instagram when I posted a photo of the products how they would fare as blushes and bronzers, and as you might guess, it is possible, but 1) the blush part of the duo would be pretty sheer, and in some cases glittery, and 2) the bronzers would require a really light hand, and they will also be shimmery (if you're not a fan of shimmery bronzers). Also, the casing is smaller than that of a typical blush/bronzer duo, so you would need an appropriately sized brush (maybe a small blush/highlighting brush). I personally wouldn't find it worth the trouble, but maybe someone more experimental might.

  1. It's so cute! I'm a sucker for cute packaging, but I think the glitter on these is a bit too much for me.

  2. Salted Caramel looks like my kind of shades! But I have so many that I'm going to skip. Etude House really has such cute packaging. I'm always in love and impressed.

  3. The packaging is so cute! Definitely the kind of 'chocolate' I'd like to receive for Valentines day, though the color choice is a bit odd though that these are eyeshadows rather than face products huh?
