Biotherm Skin Best Wonder Mud: A clay mask with antioxidant benefits
What's interesting about the Skin Best Wonder Mud is also its application method. Unlike traditional masks where you leave it on for anywhere from 15-30 minutes, the Wonder Mud mask is designed to be a quick fixer-upper for your skin that can be used in a few minutes - in fact, Biotherm recommends 3 minutes, so that you can use it even if you are in a rush. Basically, you apply the mask to your skin, let it sit on your skin for 3 minutes, and then you rinse it off, massaging the mask as you do so to get the exfoliating effect of the "crushed apricot stones". Biotherm recommends using the mask twice a week.

So, we do have a pretty interesting product to look at today, and we'll also look closer at the Astaxanthin in the product. So, let's begin with my favourite thing - a look at the ingredients list. I didn't have a copy of the ingredients list with me, but fortunately a bit of googling turned up the ingredients list, so here we go!
The idea behind the plumping claim in the Aquasource Everplump is is that as you age, the plumpness and volume in your skin decreases, leading to a more aged appearance. So, products like the Aquasource Everplump can help restore some of the plumpness lost over time. Biotherm also claims that this can be used around the eye area, and is also suitable for sensitive skin.

With that said, let's start the review, and look at the ingredients list! Unfortunately the product I got didn't come with the ingredients list, but a little bit of googling turned up the ingredients, so we get to start with the ingredients analysis!
Biotherm's Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion SPF 23 PA++ is the first cushion product to come from Biotherm, and it arrives hot on the heels of the cushion trend! Biotherm is better known for its skincare products, in particular its Life Plankton Essence, which I've reviewed before, so this was definitely a little of a surprise, but it's not at all unwelcome!
Biotherm Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion: The first CC Cushion from the brand!
The Biotherm Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion is meant to have a light, airy texture, and also meant to give you an "unbeatable moist glow" with full coverage. That definitely sounds like what every cushion base should be! And in true Biotherm fashion as a skincare brand, it also contains the brand's signature Life Plankton, as well as Adenosine, and a bunch of other skincare ingredients.
Biotherm Aquasource Evermoist CC Cushion: With Life Plankton as well
As with most of my reviews, you'll know we're going to go straight to the ingredients list to check out what's in the CC cushion. I have to thank the Biotherm people for being so kind as to send me the photograph of the ingredients list! The press kit I received had gorgeous special packaging, which unfortunately meant that I didn't have the ingredients list. But they were nice enough to send it to me, so I can get my nerd on, haha. So let's start the review!
Biotherm's Life Plankton Essence was launched last year, and is billed on the Biotherm website as a "Fundamental Skin Treatment". The description for the product goes on to say, "For the first time, Life Plankton is infused at its highest concentration within Life Plankton Essence (5% for anyone wondering). In 8 days, see and feel a new-born skin: more radiant, more even, smoother, hydrated, with greater resilience and fine lines faded. Immediately, the skin is soothed and softened." So essentially, this is a lotion-style essence product, with a high concentration of Life Plankton. This is meant to be used before other skincare products, like moisturizer.

The Biotherm Life Plankton Essence was launched end of last year to much fanfare and raves, and this year has continued to get a steady stream of attention from both mainstream press and bloggers. So I figured it's probably a good time for me to finally get around to reviewing it! How does this product work, and what is inside the product? What is this Life Plankton, anyway?

To answer those questions and more, there's only one place to start looking - the ingredients list! Biotherm has also very kindly helped to answer a few of my questions on the product, to fill in some of the gaps and questions I had when analysing the ingredients list, and I'm really happy that they did - I mean, I'm just a random blogger, not Anna Wintour or anything, and I'm sure the PR people have lots on their plate, so I really appreciate it when I get to ask questions and they get answered! For this review though, I've incorporated some of the answers into my review, rather than having them as a separate standalone section, in order to keep the length of the review shorter and the flow less disjointed, but where the information has been provided by Biotherm, you'll see me mention it (e.g. "Biotherm/the company/the brand informed me that" or something similar). So, without further ado, let's jump right into the review!
Biotherm launched its Purefect Skin range, which consists of a range of skincare products targeted at blemished skin. I was at the launch of the range held waay back in end-May, but for some reason, I just never got around to actually trying it out. Now that I've actually tried out the Purefect Skin range, I'm actually kicking myself for not trying it out earlier!
As a acne-ridden twenty-something (who says acne doesn't just plague your teen years, huh), I'm always on the lookout for something that can help my blemish-prone skin. And I think the Biotherm Purefect Skin range has actually helped my skin.
The first product is the Purefect Skin Anti-Shine Purifying Cleansing Gel. As the name suggests, this is a cleansing gel that comes in the form of a clear gel. I wasn't expecting much out of it, but I feel like it really cleans my skin, without leaving it overly-dry. I did get a bit of tightness, but not anymore than your average blemish-skin cleanser.
Another thing about the Purifying Cleansing Gel that I liked was that it really foams up very well. I was actually surprised by the amount of lather that I got out of a little bit of gel! So if you like foaming cleansers, this will be right up your alley.
The next product in the lineup is the Micro-Exfoliating Purifying Toner. This is a toner with salicylic acid, which will help acne-prone skin by killing bacteria and promoting skin turnover. I also liked this on my oily, acne-prone skin. I imagine that if you have dry skin, the salicylic acid may be a little bit harsh on your skin. This probably works best for oily, pimply skin.
Lastly, we have the Pure Skin Effect Hydrating Gel. This comes in a really cute-looking pump bottle. There was actually a really snazzy blue-and-white box that came with this too, but I didn't manage to get a photo of it.
The Pure Skin Effect Hydrating Gel is a really light-textured, white gel that applies well because it's so lightweight, and absorbs fast. It doesn't leave behind any residue, but leaves your skin feeling less oily. I actually really like this product - it also works very well under my makeup.
One thing I like about Biotherm's Purefect Skin range is the fact that it's just three simple, basic products - a cleansing gel, a toner, and a moisturizer. No fancy masks, or serums, or other extraneous things I don't really have time for in my schedule. If oure looking for a no-nonsense skincare range with all the basic attributes needed for regulating acne-prone skin, then this range will be perfect for you.

Biotherm is one of those companies that doesn't get much buzz, but does have solid products - I myself am a huge user of their Aqua Source moisturizer. And almost as though the company has read my mind for liking their moisturizers, they magically release another one!
The newest release is Skinergetic, as as the name suggests, it's meant to reduce signs of tired skin, making your skin look more alive and, well, energetic. This product features various plant-based ingredients, including the very unlikely broccoli. Skinergetic comes in a green bottle, and has a capsule of broccoli powder that is mixed in with the lotion upon opening. The idea is that the anti-oxidant power of the active ingredient, broccoli in this case, is kept as fresh as possible until the consumer wishes to use it. Pretty nifty, huh? The only catch is that you have to use the product within 3 months, or the efficacy of the active ingredient decreases.
Here's a look at the capsule of broccoli, and how it looks when first mixed into the product. You see that yellow-brown powder floating on top of the lotion? Yeah, that's the powder. After dispensing the powder into the moisturizer, you then mix it in. There isn't any change to the moisturizer once the powder has been mixed in; it just remains a white lotion.
The product is applied with a dropper, which I quite like, as it's a little bit more hygenic than sticking your fingers in a tub. The recommended usage is to place two drops on your palm, emulsify the drops on your hand, and then apply them in an upward and outward motion on your face. The lotion can also be applied to the neck too, in a downward motion. There are also some massage steps that went with this.
The Skinergetic moisturizer itself is a white, light-textured lotion, that smells very sweet. It kind of reminds me of apples and lemons (fortunately it doesn't smell like broccoli). I was told that the smell was actually re-formulated and toned down for the Asian market. Apparently the European version has a stronger fragrance. The lotion absorbs pretty easily, and doesn't leave behind a sticky residue.
Because it is generally meant as a moisturizer with anti-oxidation properties, any woman of any age would be able to use it. At the event, we were actually shown this pretty darn cool video of two apple halves oxidizing. Basically, the apple half that had Skinergetic applied to it browned much more slowly than the half that didn't, a testament to it's anti-oxidizing powers. We were told that we could try this with the lotion on our own apple halves at home - I haven't gotten around to doing it yet, but boy, am I itching to try that out now!
Biotherm Skinergetic launches in Singapore on 25th August, and is priced at S$99 for a 50ml bottle which is meant to last for three months. For the first month, if you buy one Skinergetic mask hyou get one Source Therapie mask for free, making this a pretty good deal if you like the mask. I think this would probably be best for girls who are looking for a light moisturizer that is easily absorbed. I'll definitely be updating the blog with my thoughts as I use this product more!
