Sleek Pout Paints: Mixing the Perfect Mauve Rose Shade

I can't believe it - this is my fourth time mixing the Pout Polishes, and I'm actually not bored yet! I think the ability to create your own shades has really kept me happily occupied, LOL. Anyway for this shade, I bring you the last creation of mine (for now anyway) - a mauve rose shade, shown circled below. I love this shade so much. Can I name it after myself or something?

Anyway for this shade, I used Peachy Keen (peachy shade), Pin Up (true red), Peek-a-bloo (blue), and Cloud 9 (white). It actually took me a few iterations to get this colour right, and to be honest, I didn't quite set out to make this colour. I was just playing around with the mixture, and just adding different colours to it as it evolved. On hindsight, if I had started off with this colour in mind, I would have tweaked the recipe somewhat, but here's what I used.

I first started off with three colours, Peachy Keen, Pin Up, and Cloud 9. I don't know why, but I seem to like to start off with these three shades. I think it's because that they seem to produce quite a nice mix of colours on their own (I previously mixed two other shades just using these three Pout Paints).

After blending the three shades together in the amount shown, I got the colour below. I was still randomly playing around, so I added in a little bit more Peachy Keen:

The colour I got was alright, but I thought I'd have some more fun with the colours. So I mixed in a little bit of Peachy Keen again, with some Peek-a-bloo this time.

And to my surprise, the net result turned out pretty well. I actually really liked the colour below, although I chanced upon it purely by accident. It was exactly the kind of mauvey rose shade I liked! I can't tell you how many lipsticks and lipglosses I bought thinking it would look like that on me, only to be sorely disappointed afterwards. I was also quite surprised by how although I only added a little bit of Peek-a-bloo inside, the entire shade was actually made much more cool-toned! Note to self: Next time when adding Peek-a-bloo to modify the shade, use sparingly.

Lastly, as with my previous mixing experiences with the Pout Paints, I ended off with mixing in some clear gloss with shimmer, to increase the amount of gloss that was in the pot. It also helps to make the texture a bit more wearable - trying to wear the Pout Paints straight out of the tube is a challenge as they tend to feel a little bit tacky and dry on the lips.

And...*drumroll* final creation! I love this colour, I really do. I think this colour is the perfect lip shade for almost anyone, seriously!

Here's the swatch of the lip colour on my arm (along with three other mixes I made, which were previously blogged about). Personally, out of all the shades I've created, this is definitely my favourite.

So what can I say? I don't think mixing up a wearable shade with the Sleek Pout Paints is too difficult. If I could create a shade I loved by mistake, I'm pretty sure that any girl can probably mix up something she'd like as well. I do think it requires a bit of getting the hang of at first, but once you've gotten a sense of how to use each of the colours, mixing your own shade actually becomes pretty fun! I've been playing with the Sleek Pout Paints for awhile now, and I really love them. If you're thinking of mixing up your own shades for fun, these are definitely worth a try.
