Biore Uru Uru 2-in-1 Instant Foaming Wash Review and Ingredients Analysis

Biore is one of the Japanese drugstore brands under Kao Corporation known for its skincare, particularly cleansers and makeup removers. And in addition to the slew of products they already have, Biore has added a new lineup to their line of foaming cleansers - the Uru Uru 2-in-1 Instant Foaming Wash.

As you know, Biore already has a couple of facial cleansers - there's the Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash, as well as its couple of variants (there's one with extra moisture, among others), so the Uru Uru 2-in-1 Instant Foaming Wash isn't by any means the company's newest foamy facial cleanser. It is, however, somewhat different from the existing foam cleansers, and in my opinion this is better. What do I mean when I say better? Well, now you get to find out!

The first thing that makes me say this is better is simply due to the fact that the product performs better to me. Unlike the original Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash, which dried out my skin, the Biore Uru Uru 2-in-1 Instant Foaming Wash actually achieved a great balance between cleansing my face, removing light makeup, and not leaving my skin dry. In this respect, it felt a bit more like the Biore Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist version instead. And, it also has a rose-like fragrance which was quite pleasant when using, which was something new. I guess it ties in with the advertising, which claims it "contains 40% Beauty Essence for soft, moist skin".

The foam is much like Biore's other foam cleanser offerings - nice dense foam. I've written before that as long as my cleanser does a good job of removing dirt and oil without stripping my skin, I'm not particular over whether its a foam, solid, or liquid, but nevertheless, the foamy experience is pretty cool. I suppose it does make work easier if you are one of those girls who lathers their cleanser into a foam before application (I'm told Japanese girls do this, but I don't have the habit of doing so), because the foam is dispensed with an easy pump.

My experience with the product is borne out by the ingredients list. One of the things you'll notice is that the ingredients list is actually pretty similar to the Biore Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist, in that for both cleansers, Biore picked gentler surfactants, as well as added in some ingredients to moisturize the skin. Like the Extra Moist version, Biore has used ingredients like Glycerin, PPG-9 Diglyceryl Ether, and Lauric Acid to function as humectants and emollients in the product, and has also used Decyl Glucoside, a mild surfactant, as the surfactant of choice. Sodium Laureth Sulfate also appears much further down in the ingredients list, so presumably there isn't a lot of it in the product. And then because this is a foam cleanser, there are foam boosters such as Lauryl Hydroxysultaine. All of these ingredients are also found in roughly in the same order as the Extra Moist version of Biore's Marshmallow Whip cleanser, so all in all, I'm not actually surprised by the fact that I liked this cleanser, since I did like the Extra Moist version.

So, in summary, should you spend your money on this? I'd say yes - it cleanses well, without drying out the skin, and I think the formulation of the cleanser works for me. And if you've tried and liked the Biore Marshmallow Whip Extra Moist facial wash, chances are, you'll probably like this (plus, it has an added rose scent, which is a plus if fragrances don't bother you). For a drugstore cleanser, I think this is pretty good value for money, considering the quality you're getting.
