MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1 Swatches and Review

MUFE, or Make Up For Ever, has released two Artist Shadow Palettes for Fall 2015. The two Artist Shadow Palettes are Artist Shadow Palette 1, which is a neutrals palette, and Artist Shadow Palette 2, which has bright shades. These are definitely one of the Fall items I was looking forward to, because MUFE usually has very good quality products, and their palettes usually have the same quality as their single eyeshadows, too.

MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1: 9 neutral eyeshadow shades for Fall 2015

As you can imagine, my penchant for neutrals means that I absolutely had to check out the Artist shadow Palette 1 - I mean, a collection of 9 top-notch neutrals in a pretty palette is not something I would pass up! I've actually swatched some of the MUFE Artist Shadows before (here and here and another palette here), and I've been playing around with the existing shades I have and these are really pretty good.

MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1: Consists of 9 shades from MUFE's permanenet range in palette form

Anyway, without further ado, let's move on to the swatches and the other good stuff!

The shades are all really gorgeous, and there are a good mix of lights, medium, and dark shades. There are also 3 beige/white/base shades, 1 matte black shade (not a shade I personally get a lot of use out of, but a basic for most people), and most of the rest of the shades are various types of browns and taupes. There's a pretty good mix of cool and warm shades, too.

The eyeshadows are all your typical MUFE Artist Shadow quality - which is to say, they are really excellent. Smooth, pigmented, no chalkiness or dragging, very minimal fallout - what more can you ask for?

I528 Pearl (swatched previously) is a lovely pearly white. Good for browbone, or inner corner of the eye.
I514 Pink Ivory (swatched previously), is a lovely shimmery beige shade with a bit of a pink tint. Again, a great base colour.
ME512 Golden Beige is a great metallic beige with some gold. Great as a lid colour or highlight colour.
S556 Taupe Grey is a gorgeous neutral shade - a matte cooltoned true taupe, i.e. a grey-brown shade without any purple lean. This is a great lid colour (or base colour, if you have deeper skintones) and great for contouring the eye too, since it's matte.
D562 Taupe Platinum (swatched previously) is another really lovely neutral shade. Although the colour name says "taupe", this is a little browner on me. Great as a neutral lid colour, with some nice sparkly shimmer.
ME644 Iced Brown is also a nice shade, but this leans a little warmer than Taupe Platinum. It also has a slightly different finish - it's metallic rather than diamond, so more sheen-y and less sparkly.
S102 Onyx is a "satin" finish black, but it looks pretty much matte to me. Maybe it has the slightest sheen inside, but I would pretty much use this like I would a matte black.
I544 Pink Granite, which also appeared in last year's LE Holiday Palette, is probably one of my favourite Artist Shadow shades. A slightly cooltoned taupe with gorgeous shimmery finish? Yes please! I don't even mind that I have it in two different palettes - the more the merrier with this shade, I say! If you're a taupe girl (like I am), you'll love this.
D652 Celestial Earth (swatched previously)is a pretty, rich, brown with nice golden sparkle shimmer.

MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1 Ingredients
MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1 Ingredients List and Palette Shades

And for those wondering what makes these eyeshadows so smooth and silky, I decided to take a peek at the ingredients list. You can see that the formula varies for different finishes; for example, there is Mica present in the shimmer shades and so on, but there are some similarities across the board. While most of the ingredients are pretty typical, consisting of various ingredients which make up the "base" of the product and bind it together (Mica, Talc, Kaolin, Zinc Stearate), there is also the presence of some ingredients with more emollient properties (Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2), which give the product a nicer smoother feel on skin, and also various silicone-based ingredients (Cetyl Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer), which similarly add to the silky feel of the product. So yes, the smooth feel of the eyeshadows on the skin is not something that's made up - there are

MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1 Neutrals
MUFE Artist Shadow Palette 1: An excellent, high-quality palette of neutrals

So, would I recommend the palette? I totally would, if you're up for a palette of browns and neutrals. I know some might find neutral shades boring, but as far as I'm concerned, neutrals are the bomb. I have no shame in hoarding all my neutral shades, because my neutrals are my most commonly used colours, so I'm always happy to have more! These are really good quality neutrals too, with great pigmentation and a smooth texture. At $69 for 9 shades, even though it's not the cheapest eyeshadow palette around, it certainly consists of some very universal shades, and is worth checking out if you don't mind paying more for quality.

The Bottom Line: A palette of lovely brown and taupe neutrals with nice pigmentation and quality that is perfect for the neutrals lover.
