Stuff I Actually Used Up: Skincare and Makeup Empties!

Yes, I did it! I have pan porn and empties to show you guys! And because my last empties post was sometime back in September last year, and because I've been diligently consistently using products until they were all gone, I do have a good amount of finished products to show you this time, and I'm so excited about it! It's been six months, and I've accumulated all this pan!

So proud of my many empties!

Look at all that! Look at all that makeup and skincare that I managed to pan! While it might seem odd to non-beauty junkies, the sheer amount of makeup I have means that using up something is always an acheivement - I take it to mean that 1) I'm not as much of a hoarder as I think I am, and 2) Why yes, I could indeed buy another lipstick to replace the one I just used up! (Nevermind the fact that I already have many other lipsticks...*ahem* incriminating Instagram evidence here.) But I guess if you just have a lot of makeup, it's always a good feeling to actually use something up!

So, without further ado, let's take a closer look at what I've managed to use up in the past half year!

Empties March Etude House Magic Any Cushion Smashbox Highlighter
Etude House Magic any Cushion in Magic Mint and Smashbox Softlights Highlighter Quad in Aglow

First, let's start with the big makeup stuff. I've used up the Etude House Magic Any Cushion in Mint, which was previously swatched and reviewed here. I also actually wrote about the launch of the Magic Any Cushion in Korea last year, too. This was fairly easy to use up, because there isn't too much product in the sponge. You can buy refills, too.

Also, I used up a Smashbox Softlights Highlighter, in the released-so-long-ago-I'm-embarrassed-to-say-when limited edition shade of Aglow. You can't see it now, obviously, but this was one of the Softlights Highlighter quads that had four quadrants of various colours - pink, purple, peach, and white. I liked the white quadrant best, but generaly also swirled all the shades together for a subtle all-over glow. I do like the Smashbox Softlights that I have, although they aren't packaged with a screw top lid anymore, but a compact flip up lid instead. You can see photos of the not-yet-panned Softlights on my Instagram here and here.

Empties March Ulta Benefit MUA Stila
Ulta Eyeshadow, Benefit Lipstick, Superdrug MUA Lipgloss, and my Stila Powder Brush

And, smaller makeup items! There's a Ulta Eyeshadow in Naked, which is a pale ivory shade, and one that I've been using as an eyeshadow base, so it's quite a staple shade for me. You can see it in its not-panned-yet glory in this post, as part of the stuff that I carry for travel. Also, it makes its way into a lot of FOTDs (like this, this, and this) although it's not really noticable, since it's a base shade.

I also used up my Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Lia Lips. This was featured in one of my Instagram posts, and the Silky Finish Lipstick line (which I loved for how moisturizing it was) has been discontinued and since replaced with a newer line of lipsticks. This was a deep neutral brown-rose kind of shade.

And, a Superdrug MUA Lipgloss in #4. I've previously reviewed it here, and swatched the rest of the Superdrug MUA Lipgloss shades here. #4 is quite a nice, wearable, and fairly universaly-flattering shade. I did get some compliments wearing it, which I take as a good thing!

Lastly, I also made the difficult decision to say goodbye to my Stila #8 Powder Brush. I've had this since even before I started my blog, and it was featured in one of the very firsts posts on my blog on my makeup brushes. It was definitey my favourite big, fluffy all-over powder brush by far, and I was so sad when Stila discontinued it. I've been using it for maybe 6 years, and over the years, the brush has slowly shed and the bristles have become rougher with repeated washings, to the point where I felt like I shouldn't be using it anymore. If you look at the first post it appeared in, you can see how much fuller and softer the bristles were then. RIP my dear Stila #8, it was a great long-term relationship for 6 years.

Empties March Olay Regenerist Lancome Revitalift
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream and L'Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum

Now, larger skincare items! The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturizer was reviewed on my blog before, and this is actually the second tub I've used up - the first tub was featured in a previous empties post. So, I did like the product and I think it was good.

The other empty is the L'Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum. This was actually "stolen" from me by my mum, and the bottle is broken open at the neck because she really wanted to get every last bit out of it, which means she probably did like the product. I thought I had a review on this product, but turns out I had reviewed some other L'Oreal Revitalift products instead.

Empties DHC Tiss Ampoule
Shiseido TISS Deep Off OIl, DHC Acne Therapy Pimple Cream, and Kitoko Kalani Acne Ampoules

And now, smaller skincare items. I've used up the Shiseido TISS Deep Off Oil, which is an oil cleanser. I first got a year ago and posted about it on Instagram here, and since then, I've totally used it up. I'm not sure what the ingredients are in this oil, but apparently it's primarily mineral oil - if so, this will be the first mineral oil-based oil cleanser that didn't break me out! Yay! Anyway, there are two versions of the Shiseido TISS Deep Off Oil, a yellow one (in yellow bottle), which is the one that I have, and a blue one (in a blue bottle). The difference is apparently that you use the yellow version on dry skin, and the blue version on wet skin, but I've also noticed that the yellow version is thicker andfeels more like oil, than the blue version, which feels more like water, and the yellow one is unscented, while the blue one has a fairly strong floral scent.

I also used up a DHC Acne Therapy Pimple Cream. This is actually my second tube of Acne Therapy Pimple Cream that I've used up. I first blogged about it way back in 2011 in a Japan haul post, and also brought it along on holiday with me to Vietnam, before finally using up my first tube last year. So this is my second tube, and now it's finally done!

Lastly, I used up four (yes four!) Kitoko Kalani Acne Ampoule bottles. These are tiny, but I was having a very pimply few months! I actually blogged about bringing it with me for travel sometime ago. These ampoules have a combination of salicylic acid and tea tree oil, which seesms to work for me. I've also used up these ampoules and featured them in a previous empties post, too, so they've beem a staple for me. Sadly, I've beem told by the shop carrying it that they're not bringing it into Singapore anymore, which means that whatever little bottles of ampoules I have are it! Gosh, I hate it when things like that happen, but it does give me an excuse to try out more products.

So that's it for my empties for the past six months! Now to work on emptying more products to share with you guys!

  1. This is a really good effort! I hardly ever finish makeup, but I'm *nearly* about to finish a lipstick for the first time ever.
