Although this is marketed as a "Body Serum", I kinda feel like it really is just a body lotion, and in that sense, thus not all that different from Nivea's other whitening body lotions on the market. The difference, though, is in the lightness of this product - perhaps that is why it's called a serum instead of just plain ol' lotion. The product, once squeezed out of the tube, it's a light-feeling, white coloured lotion with a more watery feel. It's definitely a more water-like body lotion than a thick body cream.
Once you rub it in, it absorbs well. As you can see, it blended into my skin pretty well.
Below is the ingredients list. As you can see, the primary ingredients include sunscreen filters (Ethylhexyl salicylate, Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane), emollients and moisturizers, (C12-15 alkyl benzoate, Glycerine), which you would expect in a body lotion with SPF 25 protection. There are some plant-based extracts (glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, Malpighia glabra (acerola) fruit juice, and so on), but these only appear later in the ingredients list.
All in all, I thought this was a pretty good body lotion as a whole. It absorbed fast and it did moisturize well. I haven't tried it out long enough to know whether it actually whitens or not, but SPF25 is a good start. I'm not exactly sure what 95% purity of Vitamin C is, but there is Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate in the forumlation in the second half of the ingredients list, so that's probably what they are referring to. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a more stable form of Vitamin C, so I guess over time with rigorous daily use, this will have some effect.
So would I recommend this product? If you're looking for a product with good SPF protection, and that may have a whitening effect, this might be useful for you. Regardless, my favourite thing about it is that it's a lightweight body lotion that absorbs relatively well.

Wow I've just been around looking for thorough review about this and thank you for the ingredients analysis. Now i feel better about using this every day! They have also launched a night serum for this line, do you have any thought about that, too?
ReplyDelete@Nabila F. Bunyamin: Thank you, I'm glad you found the review helpful! I haven't actually checked out the night serum yet, but I suppose if it has similar ingredients, then chances are that it will function pretty similarly :) Hope this helps!
