Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and Review

I've always been eyeing some of the lovely Too Faced products, and recently actually bought some of their lip products, as seen on my Instagram). In addition to those two lip products I bought, I also finally got one of their famed eyeshadow palettes - the Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette!

Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette: Finally got my hands on one of these pretties!

I got the Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette from Beauty Bridge, an online retailer that is based in the US, but ships overseas. They have a ton of products, from niche brands to mainstream ones, and from skincare to makeup to fragrance. I'm glad to say my package arrived on time, and that nothing was broken, which is good (shipping eyeshadows overseas always makes me a little worried). So yay for well-packed international parcels!

Anyway, now that I've gotten my hands on the palette, I figured it's a good time for me to give you guys a review of the palette!

First, the packaging of the palette is gorgeous. It's not too heavy or too flimsy (although I guess the metal container might be a tad on the clunky side for some), and the box is sturdy enough to hold up to travelling. It even has a little insert with little diagrams on how to acheive various looks with the palette (which are useful, but I've always preferred experimenting). Overall, as far as packaging is concerned, I have no complaints.

Inside, of course, is what we are looking at, so let's get to that. There are 9 shades, classified into groups of 3, called "Day" (light neutral sahdes), "Classic" (a little bit of colour), and "Fashion" (usually the most outrageous colour combination). Each set of 3 shades has a highlight shade, a lid shade, and a deep crease/liner shade. Because the lid shades in the Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette are all quite light and pastel - no smokey shades or neon colours here - the entire palette gives off a rather sweet, breezy feel, in terms of colour coordination. I don't often wear neons or very dark shades, so this type of colour arrangement is just up my alley.

This palette seems to be geared towards fairer-skinned people, with its mostly pastel and pale shades, but within that constraint, there is a decent mix of colour range - the colour range goes from neutrals and bronzes, to light purples, to glittery seafoam shades. All the highlight shades are matte, pale shades of beiges and pinks, so although they show up as different shades on me, I can imagine that some people with darker skintones might find the shades indistinguishable.

Here are the colours in the palette swatched one by one.
First, the "Day" shades: Purr, Tiger's Eye, and Leopard.
Purr is a light beige with slight shimmer. This is obviously meant to be a base/highlighter shade, and isn't too shimmery - you can see in the swatches the shimmer doesn't show up.
Tiger's Eye is a lovely warm bronze with shimmer, but not discrete glitter bits. It's got excellent pigmentation and texture, and was very smooth.
Leopard is a deep brown. This has a slightly harder texture than Tiger's eye, because it's meant to be used wet/dry as shadow/liner. It's perfectly servicable as eyeshadow, however - it's not as hard as most cake eyeliners. It also has great pigmentation

Next, the "Classic" shades: Meow, Pussy Cat, and Jungle Love.
Meow is a light beige with no shimmer. It's the slightest bit darker and warmer than Purr, but when swatched, the difference doesn't register that much on me. This is a great base shade, and is my go-to for an all-over lid colour for everyday use.
Pussy Cat is a lovely light pinky-lavender shade, with shimmer. It is very feminine and pretty.
Jungle Love is a deep blackened navy with some sparkle, although on me it looks mostly black with tiny purple shimmer. Again, this has a somewhat harder texture owing to the fact that it also doubles up as a cake of liner, but it works fine as shadow too. It's the most shimmery of the three shadow/liner shades.

And lastly, the "Fashion" shades: Kitten, Kitty Glitter, and Panther.
Kitten is a pale pastel pink shade, and on me, this could probably work as a base too - it looks like an off-white with a hint of pink on me.
Kitty Glitter is as light mint green shade with lots of silver glitter bits. This one was one of the sheerer shades, it was more glitter than colour and the colour took some work to show up, and was the only shade I strugged with. I would probably use this most as an inner corner shade, or as an overlay of shimmer over the other matte shades.
Panther is a matte black shade. Nice and basic, not much to say.

I also did an eye look with some of the shades in the palette. For this, I used Purr as a base, Pussy Cat on the lid, and Leopard in the contour/crease area. I also used a bit of Kitty Glitter in the inner corner too, and also smudged a bit of Jungle Love along my lower lashline. Unfortunately, the entire look ended up looking a bit muddy in photos (I swear it looks better in real life, sigh), but I think you can get a sense of the pigmentation and finish of the palette.

In general, I found the shades to generally have nice texture and pigmentation, and show up true to the colour in the pan, with the main exception of Kitty Glitter. The pigmentation isn't as massive as compared to other brands, but it's generally great, and I didn't have to work too hard to get the shades to show up. In terms of lasting power, this was like most eyeshadows - it had decent wear throughout the day without a primer, but then again, I don't have that much issue with my eyeshadow fading throughout the day.

Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette 2
Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette: A good palette overall for those who like pastels and pale shades

So, would I recommend this palette? While I personally like it, I can see why it would not be for everyone. I think this palette works best for 1) fairer girls, 2) girls who like light and pastel shades (so if you like neons, this might not be for you), and 3) girls who want eyeshadows with good but not overwhelming pigmentation. For me, this suits me well because the shades generally go with my skintone, I do use lighter shades on a day-to-day basis, and I like the cute yet sturdy packaging. So for me, this is deserving of its place in my stash!

The Bottom Line: The Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette has a nice selection of pale and pastel shades, with good pigmentation and lasting power.
