Etude House Disney Princess Happy Ending FOTD: Purple Lipstick, Here I Come!

In my previous post swatching the Etude House Disney Princess Happy Ending collection's makeup items, I mentioned that I wanted to do an FOTD (face of the day) post with some of the items from the Disney Princess collection. Well, I did! And it turned out to be my first-ever time wearing purple lipstick, too!

For this look, I used the following products below. I used the Snow White Precious Mineral BB Cream in shade No. 2 (the lighter of the two shades), the Belle Rose Cheek Blusher in #1 Pink Rose Shine, the Cinderella Fairy Glitter Shadow in #3 Evening Party, and the Belle Purple Rose Lips Lipstick. I've neatly assembled all the products below, so you can take a look at them! Because the collection didn't have an eyeliner, but I wanted to wear one, I ended up wearing my Etude House Play 101 Pencil in #50 (swatched and reviewed, and also FOTD'ed before, too), which is a deep neutral brown. I also used my Shu Uemura Hard Formula (previously called H9) Brow Pencil in Stone Gray (which I've been using even before I started blogging, but I've never reviewed - I'll need to do that sometime!).

Etude House Disney Princess Happy Ending products I used for my FOTD: BB Cream, eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick.

I figured I couldn't go wrong with these products. Sure, the purple lipstick might look a little unconventional to some (although on me it's a bit more like a purply-berry shade, as seen in the previous swatch post), but I figured that it's hard to go wrong with a good colour of BB cream, a neutral deep brown eyeshadow (with glitter and sparkles, too!), and a pink blush, right? Turns out, this look was actually quite pretty, if I do say so myself!

First, I thought I'd show close ups of the individual bits of my look. Here's the lips, which isn't anything new because I totally stole this photo from my previous swatch post:

Here's my eye look. It's quite simple - I just used an eyeshadow brush (I used my Elf eyeshadow brush here), swipe it around the pot a few times, and then gently swipe across the lid, and then blend out. I found swiping a few times into the pot helped to loosen up the pigment and make it easier to pick up. If you only tap once, you might not get much colour. The first time however, in my overeagerness to get more colour on my brush, I accidentally ended up with too much colour on my brush, and then had to work to blend it all out!

And here's the same eye, but closed. I know in my original swatch posts I mentioned that there was quite a lot of glitter in the shadow. There is, but for some reason my camera just does not want to pick it up! I think the glitter is more apparent in indoors lighting, where you can really see the glitter sparkling. It does make the look seem a bit more multi-dimensional. I love this shade of brown, it's just a nice neutral deep brown. Some warmer browns tend to pull orange on me, but this was just right.

And this is the final look! I'm wearing all the products I mentioned earlier: Snow White Precious Mineral BB Cream, Cinderella Fairy Glitter Eyeshadow, Belle Rose Cheek Blusher, and Belle Purple Rose Lips.

What you see of my skin is just the Snow White Precious Mineral BB Cream, over a light face lotion I applied beforehand to make sure my skin was hydrated and had no weird dry patches (I used the Hada Labo ES Sensitive Skin Lotion just because it was sitting around and was the first thing my hands grabbed, but you can use whatever lotion or moisturizer you want), and then just applied the BB Cream with my fingers, and that's it! Initially, I thought that the colour was too pink and light for me, but after a bit of blending and a very short wait time (like a few minutes), the colour quickly oxidized and became much more like my shade (and also the shade you see in my swatch post previously). It ended up being a pretty good match, although initially I thought it would be a little off. Also, as you can tell, the finish is pretty good. This had quite good coverage, and covered minor blemishes pretty well. I thought I would have to go over with concealer for some spots, but I ended up not really needing too. I did apply a little bit more of the BB cream where I had more blemishes, though, and blended it out into the rest of the face.

The Belle Rose Cheek Blusher, as I've mentioned in my previous swatch post, is on the sheer side, so in this look it gives just a hint of colour, but you can certainly layer it more heavily if you want to. This has some shimmer in it, but the shimmer is very, very slight - in fact, I think it looked pretty matte upon application, especially compared to the glowiness of the BB cream. But, it's not a big deal, and after some blending it looked like a nice wash of subtle colour.

Lastly, before you ask, yes I am wearing the Purple Rose Lips Lipstick in the FOTD photo above and below. I know it looks more like a berry shade on me, but that's probably because 1) my camera seemed to make the colour a bit less blue than it really is (sigh, in both the FOTD shots and the swatches, my camera did this), and because 2) it's actually a pretty wearable shade of purple. So if you're looking for a first venture into the shade of purple, this is a good pick!

Look ma, I'm wearing purple lipstick!

Above, a shot of me, with the products I used, just because I was playing with the self-timer settings on my camera. (And yes, I have been blogging and taking FOTDs for 5 years but only just discovered the self-timer. I guess I'm slow when it comes to selfie taking? Don't judge me!)

I wore this look out for half a day of fairly sedentary activities, and it actually lasted pretty well. The eyeshadow didn't shift or migrate, and the blusher faded only slightly. The lipstick wore like lipstick does - it looked fine until I started eating and drinking. Surprisingly, noone seemed to notice that I was wearing purple lipstick - perhaps it's my undertone that makes it look more plummy than purple, but noone actually looked askance at my lip colour or commented on it. (Well, my mum did, but mums notice such things.) So I'd say that overall, this was a good FOTD, and my first successful attempt at wearing purple lipstick!

    1. @Sara Passing: I'm not sure how fair you are, but as a rough guide I'm around NC20 in MAC. So if you're around that shade, this would be a fairly good match :)

  5. Lovely review. You look beautiful and all of the makeup is very pretty on you. I have the Belle Rose Cheek Blusher in pink and it's so pretty and gives a cute light pink "glow" to the skin that I've never gotten from any other brand of blush so far. I have very fair/pale skin, with yellow undertones, so the pink glow really brightens up my face and looks so pretty. I love it, but dropped it and the pigment makeup inside shattered. I'm about to order a new one to use daily and also so I can carry it around in my purse for touch ups, without tons of little flakes of pink falling out everywhere. Lol.
May I ask you where you got the adorable pink snake-print makeup case that all the makeup is sitting/displayed upon? And what brand it is? I'd love to have one too and also maybe get some as gifts. Thank you so much! ^_^

    1. @Sarah Day: Thanks for your comment! And I feel your pain - broken powder products, especially those with nice pretty designs on them, make me so sad! I'm glad you managed to get another one!

As for the makeup case, it was given to me along with the products, so I'm not sure where it's from! But you can probably Google for keywords like "PU alligator leather pink makeup case" and see what turns up! I hope you find something you like!
