I got Apivita's 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin sometime back, and I realized that although I've had it for awhile, and I've really enjoyed using it, but I've never actually reviewed it! So I thought I would fix this ASAP, like now because something I like so much really should be featured on my blog!

Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin: Another product in a line of Apivita products I love so far.

Apivita is a Greek brand with a natural slant, and a lot of their products are often touted as natural. Now, I'm not particularly fixated on whether my skincare is natural or lot, because whether a skincare product is effective or not is not really correlated to how "natural" (however you define it) it is, and also because oftentimes the word "natural" is just another form of branding, and "natural" products may not really be formulated all that differently from non-natural ones. But Apivita products generally impress me because of their efficacy - I've felt that every product I've tried from them thus far has worked, and I've liked every product I've tried so far.

Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin Jar
Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin: Despite the jar packaging, I do like this product.

The Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin is no exception to this rule. It comes in a rather heavy glass jar, and although this isn't my favourite mode of packaging, I let it slide because I do like the product. It is indeed hydrating, as we can see from the ingredients list.

Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin Ingredients
Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin Ingredients: The cream is formulated to be emollient and hydrating

The ingredients in the Apivita 24 Hour Mosturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin are aimed primarily at hydrating and softening the skin. There's water, humectants (Glycerin), emollients and skin conditioners, (Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, which has nothing to do with Alcohol Denat, and so is not drying for skin; it can also serve as an emulsifier, Dicaprylyl Ether, Tricaprylin, Stearyl Alcohol, which like Cetearyl Alcohol also is unrelated to Alcohol Denat and can also serve as an emulsifier, Butyrospermum Parkii or Shea Butter, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride), emulsifiers to ensure your product isn't separated(Glyceryl Stearate Citrate). There are also plant extracts like Olea Europaea Fruit (Olive) Oil, Vitex Agnus Castus Extract, Mel* Extract, Avena Strigosa Seed Extract, and Olea Europaea Leaf Extract, and so on. There is also Panthenol, which is a form of Vitamin B, and is pretty effective for hydration and wound healing. Not all the ingredients sound natural, but quite a number of them can be derived from natural sources, e.g. Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride can be derived from coconut oil, and so on. So that can account for the "96% natural" claim made by the company. The only thing that confused me about the ingredients list was why water appeared twice (once right at the start, where it should be, and once again before Shea Butter), but I just kind of assumed it was some sort of typo.

So in essence, you have humectants, emollients, as well as some oils which will also have a mild occlusive effect on skin. So overall, this should be pretty good at helping skin feel soft and smooth and hydrated. Which was my experience with the product exactly.

Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal Dry Skin Swatch
Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin: Despite an initially oily feel, the cream sinks in fast into skin.

The cream itself is a white cream. I expected it to be thick and creamy, but it's not really thick or creamy so much as oily. It has somewhat of a balmy, oil-like texture, and I suppose this is due to the all the emollients, and the things like Olive Oil, inside the product. It does, however, sink into the skin fairly easy on my combination skin, so although the oily feel was unexpected, it wasn't bad. Over time, I did find that I liked this cream - it worked well under my Avene sunscreen and face powder, and it did keep my skin hydrated over time and I did think that my skin looked better when I was using the product. I was also wary about the plant oils breaking me out (with sensitive skin, sometimes certain types of plant extracts or oils can irritate the skin), but that didn't happen at all. So suffice to say I was quite pleased with the Cream. My mum also tried it out (she was curious and got into my jar - that's what happens when you have a mother who shares your love for beauty products), and she also liked it a lot. And she has skin that's older and drier than mine, so it seemed to work for both of us.

Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin Jar 2
Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin: Good hydration in a lightweight feel.

Would I recommend this? I do think this product is one that does a bit more to live up to its natural branding, primarily through using some main ingredients that can be derived from plant sources, including plant extracts/oils in a not-that-token amount (as compared to other products I've seen where the plant extracts are only added well below the preservative line - which would be less than 0.1%. I also like that the Cream did indeed hydrate my skin, and didn't break me out. I suppose for those looking for a more natural moisturizer, this is probably one of the better ones you can get. And for everybody else who isn't concerned about how natural your products are, this is still a good moisturizer I'd recommend.

The Bottom Line:The Apivita 24 Hour Moisturizing Cream for Normal/Dry Skin feels light on skin, sinks in fast, and provides good hydration, and is a solid product overall.
